With the split in the hose removed and the hose reattached and as I thought the big air intake hoses reattached I took the car for a test run. (I think this my have been the actual fault in the first place). I did notice that the hose that is attached to the top of the ERG was split at the connection to the ERG so was probably not supplying the vacuum pressure to the unit. So that's what I did, basically removed the throttle body and ERG, removed the stuck on carbon and soot then cleaned of with some diesel and a toothbrush and then reattached the two parts to the car. One of the reply's rekened a good clean could be the answer to the problem so I thought that was as gooder place to start. The scan tool identified a code that when checked on an internet search was said to be a fault with the ERG. ![]() With the changes to the MOT schedule I thought I'd buy a cheap code scanner, as the orange engine light pretty much been on since I brought the car three years ago.
